She married James Burns in 1877 in Fremantle. He was a saddler based in Fremantle, who had been born on Co. Westmeath and arrived in WA with his parents. He and Margaret had one son, Andrew (b. 1879).

She died on 18/2/1909 in Fremantle, and was buried the following day at Fremantle Cemetery (RC section). Her husband died the following year.
